How do I modify my domain name servers?

How do I update my domain nameservers?

Your domain nameservers control where your domain points.

If your domain name was not registered through WebhostingNZ, you may need to update the nameservers at your current domain registrar before your website and email will work from our hosting.

Which nameservers should I use?

The nameservers you need depend on which hosting platform your account is using.

cPanel hosting nameservers

If your hosting account is on our cPanel platform, use:

  • ns1.whsl206.com
  • ns2.whsl206.com
  • ns3.whsl206.com
  • ns4.whsl206.com

Enhance hosting nameservers

If your hosting account is on our Enhance platform, use:

  • ns5.whsl206.com
  • ns6.whsl206.com

Not sure which platform you are on?

If you are unsure whether your account uses cPanel or Enhance, please contact support before changing your nameservers.

Using the wrong nameservers may stop your website or email from working correctly.

Where do I update nameservers?

Nameservers are changed through the domain registrar where the domain name is registered.

Log in to your domain registrar’s control panel and look for options such as:

  • Nameservers
  • DNS servers
  • Change nameservers
  • Modify DNS
  • Domain delegation

Replace the current nameservers with the WebhostingNZ nameservers for your hosting platform.

How long does it take?

Nameserver changes can take time to update across the internet.

In many cases, changes start working within a few hours, but it can take up to 24 hours depending on the domain and internet provider caches.

During this time, some visitors may see the old hosting while others see the new hosting.
